The relationships between Vanellope von Schweetz and other characters in Wreck-It Ralph.

Friends and Allies[]

Wreck-It Ralph[]

Turns out, I don't need a medal to tell me I'm a good guy. Because if that little kid likes me, how bad can I be?
―Ralph, about Vanellope (last line in the film)

Ralph and Vanellope.

When Ralph and Vanellope first met, they didn't exactly see eye to eye. Ralph saw Vanellope as nothing more than a rotten thief after she stole his medal, and Vanellope thought Ralph was nothing more than an oafish buffoon. As they spent more time together however, they realized that they're not as different as they thought. Like Ralph, Vanellope was tired of being mistreated by the other members of her game and wanted to be accepted. This connection gave the two a far better understanding of one another. It also explains why Vanellope was so crushed when Ralph (as a result of King Candy's manipulation) was against the idea of her racing. After years of being rejected, the one person who showed her kindness, was apparently against her, though Ralph's actions were meant to keep Vanellope safe. However, after Ralph realizes King Candy lied to him about what would happen if Vanellope did race and he learned from Sour Bill that everything would be fixed if she crossed the finish line in an official race, he didn't hesitate to come to her rescue, and the two reconciled.

Vanellope also changed Ralph for the better as she helped him understand what it really means to be a hero, as he decided to sacrifice himself to save her when King Candy and the Cy-Bugs took over Sugar Rush. Their relationship became similar to that of a big brother and little sister and grew into a very heartwarming one at that. Vanellope even offered Ralph a room in her castle after she turned out to be the rightful ruler of Sugar Rush, though he humbly denied as their friendship alone was enough to keep him happy.

Fix-It Felix Jr.[]

Vanellope did not have much interaction with Fix-It Felix Jr., the eponymous hero of his game; however, Felix protected Vanellope from the oncoming hoard of Cy-Bugs during the climax.

Vanellope formed a strong bond with Shank, through their love of racing, and views her as an older sister. Because Vanellope admires Shank for her appearance and personality, as well as her racing skills and wisdom, Ralph grew jealous of Shank and began to fear that she would take his place as Vanellope's best friend. Like Vanellope, Shank doesn't like predictability, enjoys a challenge and likes to spice things up to keep herself from reliving the same daily things. When Vanellope was thinking about staying in Slaughter Race, she consults with Shank for advice on what she should choose, along with her worries of what her staying choice would affect Ralph and how she should tell him. During Shank and Vanellope's bonding time with the rest of Shank's crew, while Vanellope was making her choice of staying or returning back to Litwak's Arcade with Ralph, Shank had given her the nickname V.

In Vanellope's musical number, as she sings about her dream and why that it is in Slaughter Race, Shank sings with her.

Because Yesss is Shank's friend, Vanellope trusts her. Yesss helps Ralph and Vanellope get the money they need to save Sugar Rush through the use of her website, and lends them her assistance of saving the internet, as well as keeping Vanellope safe from the "Wreck-It Ralph virus".

Disney Princesses[]

When Vanellope first meets the Disney Princesses in their dressing, downtime room, they mistook her for a threat and were getting ready to attack her, with their actual weapons or what they had on hand (like a book, a lamp or their fists), until the young glitch reassured them that she isn't a danger to them and is a princess herself. A few of the girls, like Pocahontas, Rapunzel, Elsa, Cinderella, Snow White, Tiana, Aurora, Ariel, Belle and Jasmine asked her questions, that are based on their own experiences, to see what kind of princess she is. Vanellope "failed" a few of them, except for their last question of people assuming that all of her problems were solved by a big strong man showing up and letting her his assistance, they accepted Vanellope as a fellow princess and after admiring the soft style of her "unusual gown", Cinderella got her mice friends to make her and the other girls their own comfy, modern style clothing. Loving the feeling of them, as they enjoyed the rest of their downtime while getting to know their new friend, they dubbed Vanellope the "Queen of Comfy". After hearing Ariel half-sing her song on her new clothing, and the girls answered Vanellope's question of what was happening during her interrupted song, they encourage her to find her own song by staring into a puddle of water. As for the girls, most of their own songs, which involve their dreams, had them being close to water. Vanellope took their advice and realized that what she truly wants isn't the steering wheel that would save Sugar Rush, the place that she doesn't truly feel a part of anymore, but to forever stay in Slaughter Race, the place that she wants to be a part of and feels that it has everything that she has been looking for in her life.

Vanellope's friendship with the girls had gotten them to save Ralph.

Taffyta Muttonfudge[]

Out of all the Sugar Rush Racers, Taffyta had the most significant animosity towards Vanellope, believing that she was a glitch and not supposed to participate in races. She led the other racers in destroying Vanellope's kart, the "Likkity-Split," and later ordered Candlehead to rid Vanellope during the Random Roster Race. However, after Sugar Rush was restored, the racers and citizens regained their memories, and Vanellope is revealed to be the rightful ruler of Sugar Rush (a princess), Taffyta did not hesitate to apologize for her behavior towards the young princess and reconciled with her.

King Candy[]

King Candy was Vanellope's mortal enemy. When taking over Sugar Rush, King Candy hijacked into the codes of the game and tried to delete Vanellope's code, turning her into a glitch. He also locked up the character's memories, making them turn on Vanellope as well and regard him as the rightful ruler. King Candy was determined not to let Vanellope race at all, as if she was to cross the finish line in an official race, the game's codes would be restored.
