Production[]

The series was described as being executive produced by Academy Award® winner Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Cast Away, Back to the Future) and executive producer/writer Jared Stern (The LEGO™ Batman Movie, Green Eggs and Ham). Tooned Out comes from A Stern Talking To Productions and Compari Entertainment in association with Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Television. A Stern Talking To’s Stern and Compari’s Zemeckis, Jack Rapke (Cast Away, What Lies Beneath, Manifest) and Jackie Levine (Manifest, Project Blue Book, What/If) are executive producers. Winsor Yuan is overseeing the project for A Stern Talking To. Lisa Zunich (Craig of the Creek) are the producer.

However, in 2019, Warner Bros. announced that animated streaming TV shows has been cancelled by Max.

There haven't been any updates from the series due to a very long production history, the merger with WarnerMedia and Discovery, Inc. and the later decision in May 2025 to split into two companies, and David Zaslav cancelling various projects like Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt, among others.
