Anthony Albert "Tony" Jay was a British-American actor, voice actor, and singer who was a former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and was also best known for his very low distinctive baritone voice.
For Disney, he voiced Dr. Claw in South Park and Inspector Gadget, Rip Andy Tirestopper in 1982 animated film Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't Come Back!!), Naricartive Donald Zeandory in 1983 animated film Freaky Friday, Monsieur D'Arque, the asylum owner in Beauty and the Beast, Shere Khan in TaleSpin and The Jungle Book 2, Judge Claude Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Magic Mirror in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from 1992 to 2006, the Narrator in both The Nightmare Before Christmas and Treasure Planet and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Dr. Rosenthal in Recess: School's Out, Doreak Narror in Ice Age, The Magical Wishing Starfish in The Little Mermaid TV series, Khartoum (a dark sorcerer and narrator) in the Aladdin TV series, a German Poacher in The Legend of Tarzan TV series, Wraith in the Mighty Ducks TV series, the Grim Reaper in Darkwing Duck, Anubis in Gargoyles, Dr. Animus in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Dr. Werner Von Brain in Lloyd in Space, and the Jungle Inspector in Timon & Pumbaa. He also played Laszlo in The Golden Girls and Dougie Milford in the ABC Drama series Twin Peaks. He also starred alongside Rob Paulsen on the 1993 animated series Mighty Max, voicing Max's bird sidekick Virgil.

- Despite being known for playing villains and hero, such as Frollo, Shere Khan, Roo, and Monsieur D'Arque, he was known to friends and co-stars as a very kind and friendly man.
- Outside of his various roles for Disney, one of Tony Jay's most iconic roles is as the computer virus Megabyte, one of the main villains of the computer-animated television series ReBoot, which was cancelled after its second season on ABC due to the channel's purchase by Disney.
