The Miller is a human and an antagonist in the Animal Quartet.
Background[]
This miller is not a very friendly fellow. He accepts himself for who he is too much and never believes that anything good can actually come from being nice to animals, including his donkey, Stevenson. The miller won't even accept Stevenson singing instead of working, not even if his own life depended on it.
The miller is a light-brown haired, mustached man who wears a turquoise shirt, a white apron, blue pants, and brown boots.
Appearances[]
In the movie, the miller is seen in on his farm, coming out of the farmhouse and angry about Stevenson singing instead of working because the beast of burden is now too old to haul grain. When the man finds Stevenson in the barn, he tells the donkey that he'll teach him to sing all day long by lassoing him, dragging him outside, and stacking many sacks on his back; yet, he is kind of surprised at how old Stevenson has now gotten. The beast of burden tries to carry the sacks, but they fall on his master. Fed up, the miller decides to sell Stevenson to the butcher while looking for a replacement. Luckily, the other animals give Stevenson a neckerchief to remember them by and convince him to leave. As soon as the miller returns and finds nothing but the rope that was around Stevenson's neck, he shocked and furious to find his donkey missing.
When the miller reads about Stevenson becoming a musician with Miles, Elizabeth, and Bruce in Bremen, he is not very pleased and is still upset about his donkey escaping (though he somehow already found a replacement). He thinks the band won't last for very long and thinks nothing of how badly he treated Stevenson.
When the miller watches a news interview about the quartet defeating the Music-meister, he realizes that the way he treated Stevenson was wrong. He comes to Bremen, calling the donkey, much to his shock. The miller apologizes to him for mistreating him and invites him to come back as well as let him sing, but when Stevenson realizes that he would be separated from his friends, his former master lets him stay with his allies and gives the donkey a new neckerchief to replace the one that he somehow lost in the fight.
At the end, the miller (along with the rest of his farm animals) is at the concert and he cheers for Stevenson when it's over.
Video Games[]
The miller appears in the Animal Quartet video game as a non-playable character and the forth boss to defeat. He first appears in his barnyard and can only be defeated by Stevenson when the donkey collects his power cards to activate his kicking. Once defeated, the miller ends up sitting down with stars spinning around his head. Just like in the movie, he reforms and allows Stevenson to stay with his friends.
