The Mayor is a human character from the Animal Quartet.
Background[]
His Honor is the one who is really in charge of the town. He'll do anything to have music back in his city. The Music-meister may be in control, but the mayor doesn't let that stop him. With the Animal Quartet around, there may still be a chance for Bremen.
The mayor has gray hair and wears a black bowler hat and suit with a green ascot. Around him is a "mayor" band to prove that he really is the mayor.
Appearances[]
In the movie, even the mayor wishes for music to return so he and his people can be happy again before the Music-meister came along. When Stevenson, Bruce, Elizabeth, and Miles arrive to sing for the people in the town square, the audience applauds to show that they love their talent, despite the music ban; even the mayor becomes impressed. His honor tells the donkey, the dog, the cat, and the rooster about the Music-meister and wishes for them to bring Bremen back to its former glory, which they accept (unaware of the Music-meister's Sour Notes watching). The mayor even gives the quartet a place to stay at an old abandoned music studio.
When the quartet is captured and held prisoners by the Music-meister who lies to everyone saying that the band had left them forever, the mayor tries to object, the villain scolds him reminding his honor of who is really in control. The mayor warns the Music-meister that the animals will finish him off, despite the Music-meister's sarcasm.
After the quartet escapes along with some other freed prisoners, thanks to General Mouse and his troops, the animals have a talk with the citizens about why they failed to stop the music ban and that they should work together. Hearing this, the mayor agrees, knowing that the Music-meister has gone too far; his honor tells the animals to do whatever it takes to stop the villain. After the Music-meister and his Sour Notes are defeated and brought to justice, thanks to the Animal Quartet, the mayor reopens all music stores, studios, and theaters now that the music ban is lifted.
After Stevenson, Bruce, Elizabeth, and Miles take an oath, agreeing to stick together, his honor decides to thank them for their heroism by making them official musicians. He has them sign a contract with their footprints, as well as awards them the instruments they always wanted to play: a piano for Miles, a guitar for Elizabeth, a drumkit for Bruce, and a saxophone for Stevenson.
In the end, the quartet performs onstage at the first concert Bremen ever had in years; the mayor watches and cheers for the band after their performance.
Video Games[]
The mayor appears in the Animal Quartet video game as a non-playable character. He is one of the characters the quartet can talk to and gives them tasks to do. Like in the movie, he makes the animals celebrates.
Trivia[]
- The mayor didn't appear in the original story of the Bremen Town Musicians due to the animals not even making it to Bremen.
