The Itsy Bitsy Spider is a character who appears in Mother Goose: Rhymes To The Rescue.
Background[]
The itsy bitsy spider crawled up the water spout. Down came the rain, and washed the spider out. Out came the sun, and dried up all the rain, and the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again.
This spider may be itsy bitsy, but he can be a big help. He works well with Hickory Dickory Dock and has many uses for his silk. This arachnid sure knows how to spin as well as climb waterspouts. There's no way a little water can hurt him, even the Ill Wills can't stop him, no matter what they say or do. Itsy may look scary, but he's totally harmless.
Itsy appears as a brown spider with five beady eyes. He wears eight rubber boots and on his head is a rainbow umbrella.
Appearances[]
In the movie, Itsy is first mentioned by Old MacDonald. Later, he is seen being greeted by the farmer. Itsy even sings his rhyme as part of "The Nursery Rhyme Medley".
As soon as the Ill Wills take control of Rhymeville, the spider is no longer allowed to climb waterspouts. He and Hickory Dickory Dock meet Old MacDonald who lets them join him on his quest to save Rhymeville. He lets them ride on his hat while he rides Marshall. When Old Mac, Hickory, Itsy, and Mrs. Pumpkin-Eater team up with Little Jack Horner, Mary with her little lamb, and Humpty Dumpty, the mouse and the spider ride on the lamb's head.
Then Old MacDonald and his posse team up with the Lion, the Unicorn, the Cat with the fiddle, the Cow that jumps over the moon, the Little Dog, the Dish and the Spoon as they make it past every obstacle the Ill Wills set up for them. Soon they decide to rest for the night, realizing that they need to believe in themselves in order to save their home.
The next day, Old Mac and his gang wish Mary luck as she and her lamb head to school. Once they hear about more of their friends being captured, Old Mac and his team follow Mary's lamb to find the paper fortress. They enter the fortress disguised as a giant centipede and free their friends. Itsy lowers Hickory with his silk to unlock Wee Willie Winkie's cell.
But before the Rhymesters can escape, the Ill Wills trap them refusing to let them continue their rhymes since the Wills hate rhymes and children. While Mother Goose goes after Commander Will, the Rhymesters take on the other Wills. Itsy ties up the papers with his silk so that Hickory can chew them to shreds.
As soon as all the Ill Wills are gone, Mother Goose decrees that she and her Rhymesters shall continue to do their rhymes. Itsy is even seen at the celebration party in Old King Cole's castle; after the party, Itsy and his friends return home to continue acting out their rhymes. In the end, Itsy and the other Rhymesters wave goodbye to the viewers.
Video Games[]
Itsy appears in the video game as one of the playable characters who doesn't get captured. His abilities are to climb waterspouts and use his silk for many things.
