The Ill Wills are the antagonists of Mother Goose: Rhymes To The Rescue.

Background[]

The Ill Wills are not at all friendly by any means for they are true to their name. They hate Mother Goose and her nursery rhymes as well as children. Anything they write on themselves comes true. They'll stop at nothing to end all the joy and imagination the rhymes bring to children. Commander Will is the leader of these no good papers. But the Rhymesters will do anything to stop them and save their rhymes as well as Mother Goose.

The Ill Wills are living sheets of paper with faces, arms, legs, and inkwells for feet. They also wear medals. The commander wears a Napoleon hat, epilates, and a sash full of medals. He carries a big fountain pen.

Appearances[]

In the movie, Commander Will is seen at his paper fortress peering through a telescope at what's happening in Rhymeville. He then turns to his minions telling them to end all the rhymes, thinking they don't make any sense. After Old MacDonald leaves Mother Goose's house, the Wills arrive, seize Mother Goose and her pet as they start changing everything.

Mother Goose tries to reason with the papers, but they won't listen to reason. So they imprison Mother Goose and Goosey Gander and refuse to release them, yet she vows that they will be stopped.

Peter-Peter Pumpkin-Eater arrives demanding to have his pumpkins restored, but Commander Will just holds him prisoner as the papers sing, "I Hate". They also do same for Mary-Mary Quite Contrary when she demands to work in her garden again. Even Jack Sprat and his wife get imprisoned when they demand to have their diets switched back to normal and Jack demands to jump over candlesticks again.

All these jailed Rhymesters hope that they'll be rescued as Mrs. Sprat vows to get revenge on the Wills for calling her fat. While Old MacDonald and his gang are on their way to find Mother Goose, Commander Will and his henchmen create obstacles to stop them, but the heroes keep triumphing. The Commander tries to think of something else as he sends some of his Wills to the castle of Old King Cole to trick His Majesty into signing one of them so they can keep controlling Rhymeville.

At the castle, the king is about to sign of the Wills, but then changes his mind as he was only pretending to be serious, much to their displeasure. His Majesty objects explaining the Rhymeville is going back to normal because of everyone believing in themselves and orders his guards to seize the papers, but the Ill Wills flee back to their fortress telling their commander what is happening. Angered, Commander Will orders his troop to capture the other Rhymesters, including Old MacDonald's posse.

They only succeed in catching Wee Willie Winkie, the Crooked Man, Peter Piper, Little Bo Peep, the Three Men in a tub, and Mary, but not her little lamb. Once they hear about their friends being caught, Old Mac and his gang follow Mary's lamb to the paper fortress. Mrs. Pumpkin-Eater knits a giant centipede costume so that they can sneak in. Fooled by the costume since they like things that children hate, the Wills let the disguised heroes in.

Once inside, the heroes free their friends; but before they can escape, the papers trap them refusing to let them continue their rhymes. So the Rhymesters attack the Ill Wills, and very easily. Even Old King Cole arrives to help with all his Horses and all his Men. Mother Goose comes face to face with Commander Will. He is about to erase her to end all her rhymes forever when the rhyme creator fights him for his giant fountain pen.

Once she has the pen, Mother Goose walks on top of Commander Will telling him that only good folks are welcome in Rhymeville, so she writes the rhyme, "Come with a whoop, and come with a call, Come with goodwill, or come not at all." causing all the Ill Wills to disappear forever since they hate good and return peace to Rhymeville. Mother Goose declares to everyone that they shall continue to do their rhymes from henceforth. The Wills aren't seen again for the end of the film.

Video Games[]

The Ill Wills appear in the video as non-playable characters and enemies to defeat. Commander Will is the final to defeat at the paper fortress. The Rhymesters can defeat the other Ill Wills while Mother Goose has to defeat the commander just like in the movie.
