THX is an American-based company headquartered in San Diego, California. THX stands for Tomlinson Holman Experiment. Its name comes from the 1971 George Lucas film THX 1138. The company's purpose is to create "high fidelity" audio for surround sound theaters and other uses. In 2016, the company was acquired by Singaporean consumer technology company Razer Inc. THX was formerly a subsidiary of Creative Technology Limited (2002-2016), and originally Lucasfilm (1983-2002).
THX's services were often used in The Walt Disney Company, 20th Century Studios, Warner Bros. and Buena Vista Releasing feature-length films, typically for home video use. When it came to Pixar feature-length films, it was typically for theatrical and home video use.
In 1996, the company debuted a robot mascot named Tex.

Trivia[]
- The logo has been known to frighten younger viewers mainly with its audio trademark, the Deep Note.
- In the Bill Nye the Science Guy episode "Sound", the logo was parodied as "SOUND: THE AUDIENCE IS LISTENING". Also, an orchestra can be heard tuning up.
- An episode of The Simpsons parodied the logo in "Burns' Heir". As the Deep Note plays the audience is rumbled, Hans Moleman's glasses and a man's teeth shatter, and the exit sign and some heads blow up. The logo displays itself followed by applause. Afterward, Grampa Simpson shouts "Turn it up! Turn it up!"
- The 2005 DVD of The Incredibles is the only THX Certified Disney DVD to include the Cavalcade trailer.
- The company had certified the first five films in the Harry Potter film series, which was released by 20th Century Fox and Regency Enterprises. The Cavalcade trailer is seen on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Not counting the Australian DVD, which is plastered with the Science of Sensation trailer instead.) While the Tex trailer can be found on Harry Potter and the Order Of The Phoenix (excluding the Asian/African release, which has the Amazing Life trailer instead.)
- The 2003 DVD of Finding Nemo contains two separate THX logos. The first disc includes Tex 2: Moo Can and the second disc includes the extended version of Tex. These same trailers would appear on the 2008 DVD release of Alvin & The Chipmunks, with Side A including Tex 2: Moo Can and Side B including the extended version of Tex.
- A Pixar version of THX Optimizer appears on Pixar DVDs & Blu-rays after 2007 (proof can be seen here)
