Shiegra is a lioness and a character in the Life and Adventures of Santa Claus.

Background[]

Shiegra the lioness may look frightening, but she's really special to the residents of Burzee and the first one to mother Santa Claus by order of Ak, the Master Woodsman. That is, until Necile adopts the boy. She's a big cat with a big heart, in a big way. Even when she's gone, Santa will never forget her as long as he has that toy he made of her.

Shiegra is an African lioness with gold and white fur, a pink nose, a black tail tuft, and amber eyes.

Appearance[]

In the movie, Shiegra appears approaching Ak who orders her to take care of the baby boy he found since he knows the child is special and will someday be of great use to the world. Herb the Unicorn comes by having overheard what is happening and wishes to help, to which Ak and Shiegra agree.

When Herb and Shiegra aren't looking, Necile curiously comes and takes the baby, which angers them both. Allowing Necile to keep the child, Ak also allows Shiegra and Herb to help protect him since the boy under protection of the Master Woodsman.

As soon as Claus is grown up and ready to go with Ak to the human world, he says goodbye to Shiegra. He also says goodbye to Shiegra and the Immortals when he leaves to find a home of his own as Herb joins him along with the little helpers the Immortals give him.

Later, Shiegra has grown old and is ready to die, so she comes to see Claus for the last time. He decides to carve a toy that looks just like her so that he can always remember her. Thinking the children will like the toy lioness better than toy domestic cats, Shiegra compliments Claus' work and says goodbye before leaving. Later she dies and is not seen again for the rest of the film.

Video Game[]

Shiegra appears in the video game as a non-playable character. She is one of the characters the players can interact with until her death.

Trivia[]

  • In the Rankin/Bass TV special, Shiegra only growled and roared and remained alive throughout the entire special; while in the 2000 Universal movie and the book, she spoke and eventually died. She will speak in the Disney film.
  • Shiegra could be based off of Sarabi, Nala, and Kiara from The Lion King films.
