Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon is an American actress, producer, and entrepreneur. She is best known for her roles as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde and Legally Blonde 2, June Carter in Walk the Line, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress, Cheryl Strayed in Wild, in which she received a Academy Award nomination in the same category, and Madeline Martha Mackenzie on the HBO series Big Little Lies, which she also produced. She also voiced Susan Murphy/Ginormica in DreamWorks' 2009 comedy Monsters vs. Aliens, and Rosita in the 2016 Illumination film, Sing.
For Disney, she played Nonnie Parker in the 1993 film, A Far Off Place. Witherspoon was a celebrity guest on ABC's The Muppets episode "Walk the Swine". She also played Melanie Smooter/Melanie Carmichael in the 2002 Touchstone Pictures film, Sweet Home Alabama. Additionally, she played Mrs. Whatsit in the 2018 film, A Wrinkle in Time. She even produced the Disney/Fox Searchlight film, Lucy in the Sky.
