Professor Owl's Students are characters featured in the 1953 animated shorts: Melody and Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom. They are a group of bird students who attend Professor Owl's class.

Background[]

Professor Owl's students are comprised of various anthropomorphic birds. They are shown to arrive in time whenever their teacher Professor Owl tells them to come to class. They are shown to attend class and listen very carefully to the topics Professor Owl is talking about - paritcularly music from melodies to instrument tunes. While consisting of various boy and girl students, the headwear they wear above their heads distinguish which ones are which - the students who wear various assorted hats indicate that they are boys while the ones wearing bows on their heads indicate they are girls.

Appearances[]

Adventures in Music[]

In Melody, Professor Owl's students fly into a birdhouse to attend class. As Professor Owl brings in an attendance meeting, the students then sing to him telling him that they are present in class. After attendance, they are seen listening to Professor Owl's topic of how melody is produced from "The Bird and the Cricket and the Willow Tree" to which as they listen to the musical sequence, they are seen happily playing makeshift instruments, followed by a topic showcasing only two species, birds and humans, having the ability to sing. After the sequence, many of Professor Owl's students hold up their drawings to show their "inspiration" through creativity and music. Later during the conclusion, Bertie Birdbrain bangs his cymbals after a montage featuring the Bird and the Cricket plays; later, Professor Owl conducts his class of students as they all sing together just as the camera zooms out of the birdhouse followed by a bird and a cricket holding a banner reading "The End" before the scene cuts to black, ending the short.

In Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom, various students ask Professor Owl to know what the topic they will be learning about this time, which Professor Owl tells them that what they will learn is about music from the sounds of "toot" (brass), "whistle" (woodwind), "plunk" (strings) and "boom" (drum). Just as they listen altogether, they then appear during the conclusion of the short where they are seen singing together in choir while being conducted by Professor Owl who sings along with them.

Disney's Sing-Along Songs[]

Reused footage from Adventures in Music was used in the classic incarnations of the Disney Sing Along Songs volumes - particularly in the "Disney Sing-Along Songs Theme Song" opening. Professor Owl's students are seen singing along to the song - albeit using archived footage from the shorts Melody and Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom.

Disney Parks[]

Mickey's Soundsational Parade[]

Some of Professor Owl's students were seen in the former Disneyland parade - particularly in the opening unit showcasing three unnamed students - consisting of two boy students and one girl student waving flags followed by the Canary Sisters and Professor Owl himself.
