Peter-Peter Pumpkin-Eater and his wife are two of the nursery rhyme characters to appear in Mother Goose: Rhymes To The Rescue.

Background[]

Peter, Peter pumpkin eater,

Had a wife and couldn't keep her;

He put her in a pumpkin shell

And there he kept her well.

Peter sure is a wiz at raising pumpkins and keeping his wife inside one. They certainly may be married, but they're both a big help. The Ill Wills don't stand a chance against them with their pumpkins. Peter and his wife are very particular about their pumpkins, yet they do make a great pair. After all, two heads are better than one.

Peter appears as a black haired man with a mustache and goatee. He wears a lavender shirt with a pumpkin emblem, red-orange pants, yellow-orange boots, and a pumpkin hat with a brim. Mrs. Pumpkin-Eater appears as a black-haired woman with pigtails and red lipstick. She wears a red-orange top, a lavender skirt, and maroon heel boots.

Appearances[]

In the movie, the Pumpkin-Eaters in their pumpkin patch waving to Old MacDonald as he waves back riding on his horse, Marshall. Peter and his wife even sing their rhyme as part of "The Nursery Rhyme Medley".

As soon as the Ill Wills take control of Rhymeville, Peter is no longer allowed to raise pumpkins or keep his wife in one. He comes to the paper fortress demanding to have his pumpkins back, but Commander Will refuses and the pumpkin farmer is imprisoned along with Mother Goose, Goosey Gander, Mary-Mary Quite Contrary, and the Sprats. Yet, he hopes for the best and that his wife will come for him.

When Old MacDonald rides out with Hickory Dickory Dock and the Itsy Bitsy Spider, he meets Mrs. Pumpkin-Eater who misses her husband and agrees to join the team on their quest to save Rhymeville. She has never rode a horse before, so Old Mac lets her ride Marshall with him. Later, they team up with Humpty Dumpty, Little Jack Horner, Mary with her little lamb, the Lion, the Unicorn, the Cat with the fiddle, the Cow that jumps over the moon, the Little Dog, the Dish, and the Spoon.

The gang makes it past many obstacles until they decide to rest for the night, realizing that they need to believe in themselves in order to save their home. When Mary is captured by the Ill Wills, Old Mac and his gang follow her lamb to find the paper fortress.

To get inside, Mrs. Pumpkin-Eater decide to make a centipede disguise since she loves to knit, so she knits one from three bags of wool she got from Baa-Baa Blacksheep; once inside, the rhymesters take off their disguise and free their friends with the Pumpkin-Eaters happy to see each other again. But before they can escape, the Ill Wills trap them refusing to let them continue their rhymes since the Wills hate rhymes and children.

While Mother Goose goes after Commander Will, the Rhymesters take on the other Wills. Peter and his wife defeat the papers by throwing pumpkins at them. As soon as all the Ill Wills are gone, Mother Goose decrees that she and her Rhymesters shall continue to do their rhymes.

The Pumpkin-Eaters are even seen at the celebration party in Old King Cole's castle; after the party, the Pumpkin-Eaters and their friends return home to continue acting out their rhymes. In the end, the Pumpkin-Eaters and the other Rhymesters wave goodbye to the viewers.
