Mother Goose is the main character in Mother Goose: Rhymes to the Rescue.

Background[]

Mother Goose is the one who wrote all the nursery rhymes and created all the characters in them. She writes rhymes for the children of the world and is loved by all her rhymesters; they'd all be nothing without her. With her rhymesters and her pet, Goosey-Goosey Gander, by her side, Mother Goose will do anything to bring joy and imagination to the children; even if it means having to face those horrible, pesky Ill Wills.

Mother Goose appears as a slender brown-haired woman with a ponytail and red lipstick. She wears a pink gown and a pair of glasses. In her hand is her special book of nursery rhymes, which loves to read and write her rhymes in.

Appearances[]

In the movie, Mother Goose is first mentioned by Old MacDonald who narrates the story. Later, she is seen on her front porch reading with Goosey sitting next to her in his nest. Old Mac pays a visit to Mother Goose for a conversation without even noticing that they are being watched by Commander Will of the Ill Wills.

Mother Goose sings, "Imagination", then after Old MacDonald leaves to do more work on his farm, the rhyme creator decides to read some more when the Wills show up and seize her along with Goosey. Mother Goose tries to reason with the papers, but they won't listen to reason and mess things up in Rhymeville as they hold the rhyme creator and her goose prisoner in their paper fortress.

In her cell, Mother Goose tells the commander that her rhymesters will stop him and refuses to lose hope, even as some of her rhymesters are being imprisoned. As Mother Goose hopes for Old MacDonald's gang to show up, she sings "Imagination (reprise)".

When Old MacDonald and his friends arrive at the paper fortress, they free the prisoners; but before they can escape, the Ill Wills trap them refusing to let them continue their rhymes since the Wills hate rhymes and children.

While the Rhymesters (including Goosey) take on the Ill Wills, Mother Goose goes after their commander. He is about to erase her to end all her rhymes forever when the rhyme creator fights him for his giant fountain pen. Once she has the pen, Mother Goose walks on top of Commander Will telling him that only good folks are welcome in Rhymeville, so she writes the rhyme, "Come with a whoop, and come with a call, Come with goodwill, or come not at all." causing all the Ill Wills to disappear forever since they hate good and return peace to Rhymeville.

Mother Goose declares to everyone that they shall continue to do their rhymes from henceforth. The rhyme creator even joins the celebration party at Old King Cole's castle. In the end, Mother Goose decides to write the whole story about what happened while Goosey honks, asking what will happen next. The rhyme creator tells her pet that they'll just have to wait and see, then says goodbye to the viewers.
