Moon Knight is an American superhero web TV series, set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, centering on Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Jake Lockley/Moon Knight.
Synopsis[]
The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.
Plot[]
Steven Grant is an English museum gift shop employee who is constantly picked on and suffers from bad luck. He has a sleeping disorder that requires him to chain himself to his bed as he tends to find himself in places with no memory of how he got there. One such incident had him waking up in a village that is controlled by one Arthur Harrow, who runs a cult dedicated to the Egyptian Goddess Ammit. Steven manages to escape, while also suffering blackouts, but finds his life back home even more ruined. He begins to hear the voices of Marc Spector, an American mercenary, and Khonshu, another Egyptian god hellbent on wanting to stop Ammit from unleashing chaos on the world by prejudging those that are already deemed as sinners. Steven discovers that when Marc is in control, he transforms into the vigilante known as Moon Knight while he himself can transform into the more polite Mr. Knight.
It is revealed later on in flashback that Marc is the real identity while Steven is the fictitious one; having been created to escape the childhood trauma of an abusive mother and a father who was desperate to keep their lives together. Marc eventually became a mercenary where he worked for an archeologist named Abdallah El-Faouly. However his partner, Raul Bushman, betrayed them and left them for dead in the desert. Marc discovered the idol of Khonshu and accepted being his avatar so that he can deal out justice to those who deserve it. However, Khonshu uses Marc as a pawn and apparently takes advantage of his mental health. Marc eventually met his wife Layla, the daughter of Abdallah and went on various adventures together, though his secretive pact has resulted in him pushing her away to a possible divorce.
Steven encounters Layla and falls in love with her, causing some friction between him and Marc as they fight for control over their body. While confused over discovering his Dissociative Identity Disorder, Layla continues to support him. In order to catch up with Harrow, the two go to see Anton Mogart and collect information necessary, though they end up fighting him and his men. Khonshu pleads with his fellow Egyptian gods about Harrow's treachery, but they refuse; instead, following altering the sky to find coordinates, Khonshu is sealed away in a statue and stored within the Pyramid of Giza. Marc/Steven, powerless, finds the statue of Ammit, but is killed by Harrow and ends up in a purgatory based on his fears.
Marc and Steven encounter the Egyptian Goddess, Taweret, who guides them through the afterlife. Knowing that Harrow will unleash Ammit and destroy the world, she helps him by contacting Layla who releases Khonshu; allowing him to reunite with Marc/Steven and bringing them back to life to face Harrow. Taweret also turns Layla into the Scarlet Scarab to aid them. Through some manner, Marc manages to defeat Harrow, though he does not know how, and seal Ammit away while also giving up Khonshu. Marc/Steven, now both in harmony, resume their somewhat meager, yet very happy, lives. However, Khonshu is revealed to still be a part of Marc and working with a third personality named Jake Lockley, who promptly finds Harrow in a psychiatric hospital and kills him.

In April 2018, Kevin Feige revealed that Moon Knight was definitely being discussed for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.[1]
On August 23, 2019, at D23 Expo 2019, Kevin Feige announced that Marvel Studios was developing a live-action series about Moon Knight for Disney+.
In November 2019, it was reported that Jeremy Slater would serve as the showrunner of the series.[2]
In December 2019, Kevin Feige revealed that the series was expected to wrap production in late 2020.[3]
On February 26, 2020, it was reported that the series would begin filming in November, in Atlanta and Los Angeles, under the working title "Good Faith".[4][5][6]
On October 26, 2020, Deadline reported that Oscar Isaac was in negotiations to star as the title character in the series.[7] The next day, Deadline reported that Mohamed Diab would direct episodes of the series.[8]
On November 11, 2020, Discussing Film reported that the series would film in Budapest with filming beginning in early 2021.[9]
On November 20, 2020, The Illuminerdi reported that the series would begin filming in London in March 2021.[10]
On December 10, 2020, during Disney’s 2020 Investor Day, Kevin Feige spoke about the series, revealing that the series would tackle Moon Knight's Dissociative identity disorder.[11]
On January 8, 2021, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were attached to direct episodes of the series.[12]
On January 11, 2021, in an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige revealed that the series' first season would consist of six episodes.[13]

On August 13, 2021, in an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Hawke revealed that his character was based on American cult leader David Koresh and that Oscar Isaac was the one who asked him if he wanted to join the series.[22]
On September 30, 2021, it was reported that the series had wrapped production.[23]
