The series is executive produced and directed by Emmy Award-winning artist Paul Rudish. He is known for his work on Cartoon Network series such as Dexter's Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls, as well as Nickelodeon series such as The Loud House. The project was announced at Disney's upfront meeting on March 12, 2013, and premiered on June 28, 2013, on the Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, and Disney Cinemagic.
The original television series concluded on July 20, 2019. However, the series never truly ended in the hearts of fans. On December 2, 2025, Disney Fanon Wiki user El Don Gato officially launched the "Fanon Era" of the series. This revival is unique in that it allows users to add new characters, write new episodes, create new seasons, and expand the universe indefinitely.

Trivia[]
The series originally ended with "Carried Away" in 2019, which was also the final performance of Russi Taylor as Minnie Mouse. However, due to the show's massive popularity, user El Don Gato restarted the series on the Disney Fanon Wiki on December 2, 2025.
Unlike the first five seasons which were produced solely by Disney Television Animation, the Fanon Era (Season 6 onward) is an open collaboration project. This means:
Any user can create a new character and add them to the show.
Users can write and submit their own episode scripts and titles.
The "canon" of the show is now fluid, adapting to user contributions.
So far, there have been sixteen shorts where dialogue is in a language besides English.

6.) Mumbai Madness = Hindi
7.) Clogged = Dutch
8.) Al Rojo Vivo = Spanish
9.) ¡Feliz Cumpleaños! = Spanish

11.) Turkish Delights = Turkish
12.) Locked in Love = Korean
13.) Carnaval = Portuguese
