Melvin Jerome "Mel" Blanc was an American voice actor and radio personality, best known for his voice work with Warner Bros., Hanna-Barbera, DIC Entertainment, Walter Lantz Productions, and radio work on The Jack Benny Program and The Hoot Owls. He was considered the greatest of American animation's voice actors, who was often known for providing animal, monster, and creature sounds, rivaled only in longevity and ubiquity by June Foray.
For Disney, he provided the voice of Gideon in Pinocchio. However, when it was decided that Gideon would be mute, Blanc's lines were cut from the final film, except for three hiccups.
At one point, he was considered to voice Dopey in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Walt Disney.
Blanc provided several voices for attractions at the 1964 New York World's Fair, including Cousin Orville and a Parrot in the Carousel of Progress, and multiple cavemen in the Magic Skyway.
In The Man Called Flintstone, he provided the voice of Barney Rubble, Dino, Mayor of Bedrock and French Cabbie. It's the latest Disney film featuring Blanc.
In Who Framed Roger Rabbit, he reprised the voices of several of his classic Warner Bros. characters, except for Yosemite Sam, whom he refused to voice due to always being rough on his throat (the role went to Joe Alaskey instead, as a result).
