Marshall is Old MacDonald's horse and one of the characters in Mother Goose: Rhymes To The Rescue.
Background[]
Marshall is Old MacDonald's trusty horse. He is always hardworking, well-behaved, and obedient. But when it comes to the Ill Wills causing trouble, this steed can be rather feisty. Marshall always sticks by his master's side and is rather a big help, so this elegant equine can be depended on.
Marshall appears as a brown horse with a dark brown mane and tail as well as a black snout and "socks". He wears a maroon saddle with OMD on it for Old MacDonald and gold stirrups. He also wears a red bridle; not mention, horseshoes.
Appearances[]
In the movie, Marshall is seen grazing on Old MacDonald's farm hanging out with the other animals. Later, he is seen with Old MacDonald riding on his back through Rhymeville as the farmer greets everyone.
When Old Mac says hello to Mary-Mary Quite Contrary, she reminds him to keep his horse out of her garden. Once the farmer comes to Mother Goose's house, he dismounts Marshall leaving him to graze. After the conversation, Old MacDonald remounts his horse to ride back to his farm. Marshall is seen in Old MacDonald's solo in "The Nursery Rhyme Medley".
When Old Mac realizes what's going on, thanks to the Ill Wills, he rides away on Marshall to find Mother Goose with Hickory Dickory Dock and the Itsy Bitsy Spider. After Old Mac lets Mrs. Pumpkin-Eater join his team, she rides with him on Marshall.
Then they team up with Humpty Dumpty, Little Jack Horner, Mary, and her lamb. At the river that the Ill Wills create to stop the posse, Marshall can't get across since his master explains that the horse isn't trained to swim and that river's too wide for him to jump over. So the Three Men offer the gang to ride across in their tub. Marshall is nervous at first, but his master convinces him to sail.
As the gang continues on their way, they team up with the Lion, the Unicorn, the Cat with the fiddle, the Cow that jumps over the moon, the Little Dog, the Dish, and the Spoon as they make it past every obstacle the Ill Wills set up for them. Soon until they decide to rest for the night while Marshall grazes with the Cow and the lamb, realizing that they need to believe in themselves in order to save their home.
The next day, Old Mac and his gang wish Mary luck as she and her lamb head to school. Once they hear about more of their friends being captured, Old Mac and his team follow Mary's lamb to find the paper fortress. They enter the fortress disguised as a giant centipede while Marshall stays outside where he later meets up with Bingo.
But before the Rhymesters can escape, the Ill Wills trap them refusing to let them continue their rhymes since the Wills hate rhymes and children. While Mother Goose goes after Commander Will, the Rhymesters take on the other Wills. Marshall charges into the fortress and attacks the Wills with his hooves. As soon as all the Ill Wills are gone, Mother Goose decrees that she and her Rhymesters shall continue to do their rhymes.
Marshall is even seen at the celebration party in Old King Cole's castle; after the party, Marshall and his friends return home to continue acting out their rhymes. In the end as Old MacDonald returns to work, Marshall neighs goodbye to the viewers.
Video Games[]
Marshall appears in the video game as a non-playable character except when Old MacDonald rides him.
