"Let's Get Together" is a song written by Robert and Richard Sherman for the 1961 Disney film, The Parent Trap. It was sung in the film by teen actress Hayley Mills as a duet with herself. This is because she played twin sisters Susan Evers and Sharon McKendrick, which was a technical feat in the early 1960s.
The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1961 (b/w "Cobbler, Cobbler") and went on to become a top 10 hit, peaking at number eight. The credit on it read "Hayley Mills and Hayley Mills," referring to her singing a duet with herself. Its success led her to record an album, Let's Get Together with Hayley Mills, which included it and her only other hit song, "Johnny Jingo."
An homage to the song appeared in the 1998 remake of the film as well, with Lindsay Lohan singing it to herself as she goes into a hotel elevator, and Nobody's Angel performing the soundtrack version.
The Go-Go's performed a cover on DisneyMania 5 and a live version recorded by Oh-OK is compiled on The Complete Recordings.
It was included in Disney Sing Along Songs: Friend Like Me. It was also made into a music video on DTV, which aired on The Disney Channel, and set to footage of the Donald Duck cartoon Let's Stick Together.
