- 1955: Disneyland opens to the press and invited guests. While 11,000 guests were invited, upwards of 28,000 guests arrived, many using counterfeit tickets to enter the park. July 17, 1955 is often referred to as the "Black Sunday" due to all of the mishaps that went on that day. The following attractions and shows opened along with Disneyland:
