"Jolly Holiday" is a song from the film The MazPots. It was written by the Sherman Brothers. It is sung by Bertie and Mazzie in the stroll sequence before reaching the carousel. The Oscar winning music arranger Irwin Kostal provided the much lauded orchestration.

The song also appears in the musical, but it was changed to fit the story of Nemo from Open the Door.[citation needed]

The film takes place in 1910

The song has been parodied in Forbidden Broadway Cleans Up Its Act and the show's album, with the name "Jolly Holiday with Rudy", which made fun of the cleaning of Broadway at the time.

The Disney on Ice version was sung as "A Jolly Holiday in English Countryside".

The song was included on Disney Sing Along Songs: I Love to Laugh!, in which footage from Mickey and the Beanstalk is reused as Ludwig Von Drake's daydream segues into the sequence.

Lyrics[]

Bertie:
Ain't it a glorious day?
Right as a mornin' in May
I feel like I could fly

Mazzie:
Now Bertie, none of your larking about.

Bertie:
'Ave you ever seen
The grass so green?
Or a bluer sky?

Oh, it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
Mazzie makes your heart so light

Mazzie:
You haven't changed a bit, have you?

Bertie:
When the day is gray and ordinary
Mazzie makes the sun shine bright!

Mazzie:
Oh, honestly.

Bertie:
Oh 'appiness is bloomin' all around 'er
The daffodils are smilin' at the dove
When Mazzie holds your 'and, you feel so grand
Your heart starts beatin' like a big brass band

Mazzie:
(laughs) You are lightheaded.

Bertie:
It's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love!

(Instrumental bridge)

Ram:
Oh, it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie

Lambs:
Mazzie makes your heart so light

Barnyard Horse:
When the day is gray and ordinary

Cow:
Mazzie makes the sun shine bright!

Geese:
Oh 'appiness is bloomin' all around 'er

Hog:
The daffodils are smilin' at the dove (Oink! Oink!)

Bertie and Farm Animals:
When Mazzie 'olds your 'and, you feel so grand
Your 'eart starts beatin' like a big brass band

It's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love!

(Instrumental bridge)

Mazzie:
Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you, Bertie
Gentlemen like you are few

Bertie:
A vanishing breed, that's me.

Mazzie:
Though you're just a diamond in the rough, Bertie
Underneath your blood is blue!

Bertie:
Common knowledge.

Mazzie:
You'd never think of pressing your advantage
Forbearance is the hallmark of your creed

Bertie:
True.

Mazzie:
A lady needn't fear when you are near
Your sweet gentility is crystal clear!

Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you, Bertie
A jolly, jolly holiday with you!

(Instrumental bridge)

Now, then, what would be nice
We'll start with raspberry ice
And then some cakes and tea

Penguins:
Order what you will
There'll be no bill
It's complimentary

Mazzie:
Oh, you're very kind.

Penguins:
Anything for you Mazzie,
You’re our favorite person.

Bertie:
Right you are!
It's true that Mavis and Sybil 'ave ways that are winning
And Prudence and Gwendolyn set your 'eart spinning
Phoebe's delightful, Maude is disarming

Penguins:
Janice, Felicia, Lydia -

Bertie:
Charming
Cynthia's dashing, Vivian's sweet
Stephanie's smashing, Priscilla a treat

Penguins:
Veronica, Millicent, Agnes, and Jane

Bertie:
Convival company, time and again
Doris and Phyllis and Glynis are sorts
I'll agree are three jolly good sports
But cream of the crop, tip of the top

Bertie and Penguins:
It's Mazzie, and there we stop!

(Bertie dances with the Penguins)

Bertie and Penguins:
When Mazzie 'olds your 'and, you feel so grand
Your 'eart starts beatin' like a big brass band

It's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love!
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love!
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love!

Bertie:
All that it takes is a spark
Then something, plain as a park
Becomes a wonderland
All you have to do
Is look a-new
Then you’ll understand

Why it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
Mazzie makes your heart so light

Mazzie:
Oh, really.

Bertie:
When the day is grey and ordinary
Mazzie makes the sun shine bright

Mazzie:
You do talk nonsense, Bertie.

Bertie:
Oh, 'appiness is blooming all around 'er
The daffodils are smiling at the dove

Mazzie:
I haven't the faintest idea what you’re talking about.

Bertie:
When Mazzie holds your 'and

Mazzie:
Bertie

Bertie:
You feel so grand
Your 'eart starts beatin'
Like a big brass band

Mazzie:
You’ve got enough brass for all of us.

Bertie:
Oh, it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love
Come along, you two.

Rizzi, Somi, Froulon and Ziz:
Boring, just like other nannies
Thinking parks are good for us
It's just statues, ducks, and grannies
I don't understand all the fuss

Jane:
Is she doing it to spite us?

Somi:
We could lose her for a lark

Rizzi:
Perhaps it's all a plot

Michael:
I'll tell you what
She seems so different

Rizzi, Somi, Froulon and Ziz:
But I bet she's not
There is nothing to excite us
In the park

Jane:
Who are you?

Nemo:
I'm Nemo, and I thought Mazzie would never let me get down from this plinth!

Bertie:
Ain't it a glorious day
Right as a morning in May

Nemo:
I feel like I could fly
Have you ever seen
The grass so green?

Mazzie:
Oh, Bertie.
Or a bluer sky?

Bertie and Nemo:
Oh, it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie

Bertie:
Bad days I've never known
You can ask the passing statuary

Statues:
Nothing's ever set in stone

Bertie:
You're looking tip-top from top to toe. If I may say so.

Mazzie:
Thank you, Bertie. And you may.

Statues:
Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love

Bertie:
Oi! Do you think Nemo is lookin' a bit timid today?

Michael:
No. Why?

Bertie:
I knew him when he was a little bolder. A little boulder, ha ha!
To see a statue dance like that
You can't believe your eyes
You fear you've lost your marbles
But the thinker thinks you're wise
So you should hasten, call a mason
Tell him what you've seen
If he knows his craft he'll think you’re daft
But we'll know what you mean

Male Statues:
Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love

Bertie:
Now Notre Dame can cause alarm
And I've me own hunch why
Those gargoyles need to gargle

Cos their throats get rather dry
And just between us, I know Venus Has a vice that shocks She often drinks with a
sphinx who winks it's neat and on the rocks

Statues:
Oh, it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love

Bertie:
Let's go for jaunty saunter
You are bound to make your mark
Looks like all of you were all born to
Take a promenade in the park
With those finely-chiselled features
You can look down from above
Each man out with his dog would stand agog
To see a statue take a gentle jog

Bertie and Statues:
It's (it's) no (no) wonder that it's Mazzie
That (that) we (we) love

Statues:
Love love love
Love love love

Bertie:
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love

Mazzie:
It's a jolly holiday with you, Bertie
Gentlemen like you are few
Though you're just a diamond in the rough, Bertie
Underneath, your blood is blue

Statues:
Your blood is blue

Mazzie:
You'd never think of pressing your advantage
Forbearance is the hallmark of your creed
A lady needn't fear when you are near
Your sweet gentility is crystal clear

Statues:
It’s crystal clear

Mazzie and Female Statues:
Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you, Bertie
It's a jolly holiday
A jolly, jolly holiday with you

Statues:
With you

Rizzi, Somi, Froulon and Ziz, and Female Statues:
Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie
Mazzie makes your heart so light
When the day is grey and ordinary
Mazzie makes the sun shine bright
Oh happiness is blooming all around her
The daffodils are smiling at the dove

Bertie and Male Statues:
Let's go for jaunty saunter
We are bound to make our mark
Looks like all of us were all born to
Take a promenade in the park
With our finely-chiseled features
We can look down from above

Bertie, Jane, Michael, and Statues:
When Mazzie holds your hand
You feel so grand
Your heart starts beating
Like a big brass band

Bertie, Rizzi, Somi, Froulon and Ziz, and Female Statues:
Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mazzie

Male Statues:
It's no wonder that it's Mazzie that we love

Bertie, Rizzi, Somi, Froulon and Ziz and Statues:
No wonder that it's Mazzie that we love
