Dr. John Watson is character in the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Watson is Sherlock Holmes' friend and assistant, and is the first person narrator of all but four stories in the Sherlock Holmes canon. He is a minor character from Disney's 1986 animated feature film, The Great Mouse Detective.
Role in the film[]
Watson appears with Sherlock as silhouette cameos in the film. When introduced, Watson is observed by Basil and his friends while the former was discussing a case with Sherlock, and they soon depart their home to continue the investigations.
Unlike Basil Rathbone, voice clips of Nigel Bruce (Watson's actor in the Sherlock Holmes films) were not used for the cameo part of Watson.
Jude Law, who played Dr. Watson in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, and Martin Freeman, who played Dr. Watson on the BBC television series Sherlock, both starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Law played Yon-Rogg and Freeman played Everett Ross.
