Jetix (also known as Jetix on XYZ) is an American late-night programming block on the adult-oriented nighttime programming block XYZ on Disney XD. The block launched on September 4, 2021 as a revival of the original Toon Disney/ABC Family block, and primarily airs anime and action-animation series for more mature audiences, competing with other blocks such as Cartoon Network and Adult Swim's Toonami.
History[]
2021 - 2023[]
On June 10, following the announcement of the launch of XYZ on Disney XD, Disney Television announced that the Jetix block would relaunch in the United States after a 12 year's absence since it's rebranding , airing anime and action-animation content for a much more mature audience, competing with other blocks with the same format, such as Adult Swim's Toonami programming block. The block would launch on September 11, and be broadcast every Saturday night from 10pm to 3am ET/PT.
Jetix on XYZ had also used the mascot of the original Jetix block, Jay, although this incarnation of Jay was updated to target the mature audience, being depicted with an angry red eye.
2023 - 2024[]
In September 2023, the main usage of Jay had been dropped due to the proposed debut of a new logo for XYZ in December. Since September 23, 2023, the logo of Jetix On XYZ had also been changed from red to light blue and purple.
On January 6, 2024, the Jetix On XYZ block debuted a new branding following the rebrand of XYZ, also being known on air as simply Jetix for the first time since the original version of Jetix had rebranded into Disney XD in February 2009.
The branding of Jetix compared featured 80s cyberfunk graphics and was originally based on the branding and look of Disney XD's former summertime nighttime gaming block D|XP from 2017-2018.
On June 15, 2024, Jetix will received a new on-air look and new logo, stopping primary usage of the previous logo after 20 years.
