As revealed in flashbacks initiated by Carnisoar in the episode "Good Karma, Bad Karma," Jarrod was initially a normal child in the city of Ocean Bluff who was so alone, that he became the victim of intense bullying by five fellow kids. Eventually, they cornered him in a playground and beat the living biscuits out of him. Having had enough however, Jarrod became so enraged that he unleashed a giant energy wave from his body that sent them flying (said energy wave proving to be the Lion Animal Spirit). Sometime after that, he either heard about the nearby Pai Zhuq school or was approached personally by it's leader Master Mao and ended up joining it to learn to harness his Lion Animal Spirit.
At the start of Jungle Fury, Jarrod was a top-tier student at Master Mao's Pai Zhua temple situated outside of Ocean Bluff and wielder of the Black Lion spirit. He was then selected to be one of the guardians of Dai Shi's prison after a series of tests, the last of which involved him defeating an unnamed senior student. Unfortunately, Jarrod's past experiences had turned him into a cruel and arrogant thug who started to bully students like Casey. Unfortunately for Jarrod, Master Mao witnessed Jarrod beat-down Casey with the Lion Animal Spirit and dismissed him and selected Casey in his place despite being a first year initiate. Jarrod found out what had happened, and after a brief battle with Master Mao, the chest containing the great evil of Dai Shi was accidentally opened and brought Dai Shi to the real world once again. Dai Shi mortally wounded Master Mao, then attacked the three guardians before escaping from the temple. Fearing for his life, Jarrod ran off, but Dai Shi saw his fear and took over Jarrod's body as a host. When Dai Shi became the Phantom Beast King, Jarrod adopted a posibly stronger form, a Griffin form. Dai Shi told Jarrod that he lacked the heart of lion, he chose him because he had not a shred of nobility or kindness. Three Phantom Beast Warriors were sent to kill Camille and he managed to destroy two of them, eventually realizing that he (Jarrod, not Dai Shi) loved Camille.
Casey believed in him and helped release him from Dai Shi. His Griffin armor was stripped from him by Dai Shi, and Camille's Phoenix armour was also confiscated. He helped fight against Scorch and Snapper, but when asked to help in the final battle, he was ashamed of his deeds and who he was and believed there was no going back. It was until Camille left to help, that he finally got the courage to stand up to Dai Shi and he allowed himself to be eaten by the giant dragon. Upon being eaten, Jarrod unleashed a devastating energy blast inside Dai Shi which allowed Casey, Lily, and Theo to combine their energy ball with Jarrod’s power, and destroy Dai Shi for good. Despite being in the center of the explosion, Jarrod survives. After the final battle, Jarrod and Camille joined Casey's class in the Phi Zhua academy. Despite being first-years, Jarrod and Camille had privileges, chiefly being able to assist if the opportunity arose.
Powers and Abilities[]
Strength: As one of the main protagonists and antagonists of Jungle Fury, Jarrod has strength far exceeding any Rinshi or monster. The only one stronger than him was Grizzaka (before he gained control over Zocato). Even when reduced to a normal Power Ranger, Jarrod was powerful enough to help destroy Dai Shi forever.
Ultimate Power Blast: Jarrod's strongest attack. Jarrod can use all of his energy to unleash a large yellow blast that, when performed inside of Dai Shi, left him weak enough for Casey, Theo and Lily to destroy him.
Transformation: As Dai Shi, Jarrod can transform into either his Lion Warrior or Phantom Beast King forms at will. Once Dai Shi removed his Rinzin, he can only access his Lion Warrior Form, although it is extremely powerful. (but if he regains Rinzin somehow, Jarrod will likely restore his Phantom Beast King form).
Fists: For pretty much the entire season, Jarrod never used weapons and preferred to beat his enemies into submission with his bare hands.
Energy Empowerment: Jarrod could charge golden energy up into his hands to unleash devastating punches. A single swing was able to obliterate Rantipede with a single strike across the head.
Rinshi Spear: In the episode "True Friends, True Spirits", Jarrod fought a platoon of Rinshi to try and gain the power of Zocato and stole a spear near the end of the fight.
Energy Empowerment: Jarrod could charge golden energy into the end of the Rinshi spear and swung it in a circle with enough force to take down an entire circle of Rinshi around him with one hit.
