Jack Sprat and his wife are two of the nursery rhyme characters to appear in Mother Goose: Rhymes To The Rescue.
Background[]
Jack be nimble, Jack be quick,
Jack jump over the candlestick.
Jack Sprat could eat no fat.
His wife could eat no lean.
And so between them both, you see,
They licked the platter clean
Jack is definitely nimble and quick because he eats no fat. His wife is a big girl because she eats no lean; and being a big girl, she needs love, but no one loves her more than Jack. Just because they're opposite forces, doesn't mean they don't go well together. Nothing can stop them, not even the Ill Wills. These two are always willing to lend a hand through thin and thick.
Jack appears as a skinny bald headed man in a gray jersey with a big capital J for Jack on it. He also wears gray shorts, white socks, purple sneakers, blue wristbands, and a red headband. He carries a stick of celery in one hand.
Mrs. Sprat appears as an obese blonde haired woman with red lipstick and purple nail polish in a lavender bathing suit decorated with hearts. She also wears sunglasses and green sandals.
Appearances[]
In the movie, Jack Sprat is first mentioned by Old MacDonald. Later, Old Mac rides on Marshall the Horse to the Sprats' house where he sees Jack acting out his jumping rhyme and exercising along with Mrs. Sprat lounging and acting out her part of the eating rhyme.
The farmer greets them and asks them how they are. They say they're doing fine, but once they start acting romantic, Old Mac decides to leave and check on everyone else, so he says goodbye to them and rides off. Jack even sings his jumping rhyme solo and sings his eating rhyme with his wife as part of "The Nursery Rhyme Medley".
As soon as the Ill Wills take control of Rhymeville, Jack is no longer allowed to eat lean or jump over candles and his wife is no longer allowed to eat fat. They come to the paper fortress demanding to have their diets switched back as well continue jumping, but Commander Will refuses and angers Mrs. Sprat by calling her fat as he ignores Jack's warning.
The Wills imprison the married couple along with Mother Goose, Goosey Gander, Mary-Mary Quite Contrary, and Peter-Peter Pumpkin-Eater. Yet, they hope for the best and that help will come as Mrs. Sprat still plans to get even for being insulted, much to her husband's displeasure.
Once Old MacDonald and his gang arrive, they free the prisoners, But before the Rhymesters can escape, the Ill Wills trap them refusing to let them continue their rhymes since the Wills hate rhymes and children. While Mother Goose goes after Commander Will, the Rhymesters take on the other Wills.
Jack jumps on the Wills and his wife sits on them, finally getting revenge for being called fat. As soon as all the Ill Wills are gone, Mother Goose decrees that she and her Rhymesters shall continue to do their rhymes. The Sprats are even seen at the celebration party in Old King Cole's castle; after the party, the Sprats and their friends return home to continue acting out their rhymes. In the end, the Sprats and the other Rhymesters wave goodbye to the viewers.
Video Games[]
The Sprats appear in the video game as playable characters once they are freed from imprisonment at their house. Jack's abilities are to jump over candles, jump on enemies, and smack them with his celery. Mrs. Sprat's abilities are to wrestle and bounce on enemies.
