Sir Ian Murray McKellen, CH, CBE, is an British-American actor of stage and screen, who is best known for his roles such as the legendary horror director James Whale in Bill Condon's period drama film, Gods and Monsters for which he earned an nomination for an Academy Award for Best Actor, Magneto in the X-Men film franchise, and Gandalf in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, for which he received an nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in The Fellowship of the Ring, the first film of the The Lord of the Ringstrilogy.

For Disney, he voiced Cogsworth and Governor Ratcliffe in Disney World: The Movie.
