This is the second film adaptation of Freaky Friday to start with an opening animated sequence after the 1976film adaptation.
To make the film more age-appropriate for a Disney Channel Original Movie the lyrics from the film's songs were altered to remove inappropriate language, mature situations, and copyrighted material.
A few songs were cut entirely in order to reduce the length of the film.
