Resurgent-class Star Destroyers (also known as Resurgent-class Battlecruisers, Resurgent Star Destroyers, or First Order Star Destroyers) are warships used by the First Order in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Among the First Order, Star Destroyers made up the bulk of the organization's navy. Several types of Star Destroyer are utilized by the First Order, including older Imperial models from the Galactic Empireand newer variants such as the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer; a newer, larger, more powerful model that is twice the size of an average Star Destroyer.
The most prominent Resurgent-class ship is Kylo Ren's flagship the Finalizer. Unlike the old Star Destroyers of the Galactic Empire, the Finalizer is armed with over 3,000 turbolaser and ion cannons and its command bridge was better protected and equipped with more redundant systems. The ship was also fitted with an emergency bridge, eleven engines, powerful shields, a full legion of 8,000 stormtroopers, two full wings of TIE fighters, and its weapons are powered by kyber crystals, allowing the ship to fire and recharge energy faster than other ships. Despite the size of the Finalizer and other Star Destroyers like it in the First Order, the Resistance's intelligence indicated even bigger ships might have exist within the First Order's ranks.
