Elizabeth is a cat and one of the main protagonists from the Disney film, The Animal Quartet.

Background[]

Elizabeth the cat lives for country music, she also likes to play the guitar. Unlike all cats, she prefers to make friends with mice, though her mistress won't tolerate it. This country kitty makes a great band member along with her pals, Bruce, Miles, and Stevenson. The Music-meister and his Sour Notes don't stand a chance against Elizabeth with her sharp claws.

Elizabeth is a calico cat with patches of orange and black while she's mostly white. She wears a purple collar around her neck. When performing on stage with her friends, she wears a Iight-brown vest, a brown cowgirl hat with a blue brim, a tan belt with a holster, and silver spurs. She has a love and a talent for country music, so she loves to play the guitar.

Appearance[]

In The Animal Quartet, Elizabeth is seen as the third member of the quartet. She is seen at the Rich Woman's manor where she is scolded by her mistress who refuses to let her leave until she catches all the mice or she will be drowned and not to do any singing. Left alone while her mistress is in bed, the cat realizes she has to flee in order to save her life, but she can't because of the security system. So General Mouse and his troops hack the system in exchange for not being eaten. Once the system is hacked, Elizabeth is allowed to escape while the mice have one last thing to do, promising to join her as soon as they can. The next day, the cat hears the rich woman screaming about being surrounded by mice and threatening to get her hands on the feline who leaves while singing "On The Road Again".

When Elizabeth meets Stevenson, Bruce, and Miles, they sing, "Set Your Name Free", Once everyone agrees to start a band but don't where to go, Bruce spins a bone to decide which direction they head (which happens to be the way Elizabeth came). Along the way, the quartet explains the problems they have like what to call their band, how they can play together if they like different kinds of music, and where they can go to make music. Elizabeth sings her own song in a country tone for her buddies who then each sing their own song. In the forest where the quartet spends the night, Stevenson, Bruce, Elizabeth, and Miles are informed by Vladimir T. Owl about Bremen.

The next day, the Animal Quartet heads toward Bremen. Despite Vlad's information about the town being under a curse, the cat and her friends convince each other to follow their dream. Once in the city, they are noticed by the people while coming up with names for their band when Stevenson recommends that their band be named after the movie title, to which Bruce, Elizabeth, and Miles agree.

Unfortunately for the quartet, they can't get the instruments they want to play due to the music ban of the Music-meister. So they decide to stick with singing until further notice. Unaware of the Music-meister and his Sour Notes, the band sings in town square which pleases the townsfolks and even the mayor who gives them a place to stay at an old abandoned music studio.

The next day after more singing, Elizabeth and her pals notice a songbook and plan to return it to its rightful owner only to find that it's a trap set by the Music-meister who doesn't want the band to restore Bremen to its happy, musical self. The band gets locked in the Music-meister's prison along with people who tried to get the rich man to change his mind before.

Having just about lost all hope, Elizabeth and her allies blame themselves for what happened when Vlad returns reminding them that they should work together. This makes Stevenson come to his senses and convince his friends to do the same. General Mouse and his troops free all the prisoners as Elizabeth is glad to see them having kept their word. Outside the prison, the animals appear to talk with the citizens outside the city, telling them to work together in order to save Bremen while the quartet deals with the Music-meister who lied to everyone about the quartet abandoning them.

Stevenson tells Bruce, Elizabeth, and Miles that by standing on each other from biggest to smallest, they can defeat their enemies; so the donkey carries the dog, the cat, and the rooster standing on each other's back while walking on his hind legs to the Music-meister's mansion and make their loudest animals sounds to scare the villains.

Stevenson breaks open the window his front hooves so he and his friends can enter and attack the elite Sour Notes. Elizabeth scratches one of the Notes with her sharp claws. While the cat, Miles, and Bruce attack the Music-meister, Stevenson takes away his cane and then kicks the fat music-hater out of his own mansion, thus ending the music ban. After the Music-meister and his henchmen are arrested, the crowd praises the animals as heroes. Miles, Elizabeth, and Bruce notice that Steve somehow lost his neckerchief in the battle, but it doesn't matter to him.

Just then, the animals notice that their ex-owners have come to take them back, having seen the errors of their ways. But Elizabeth and her friends realize how unhappy they'll be without each other, so their former owners agree to let them stay. The quartet takes an oath promising to stick together for the rest of their lives.

To thank the animals, the Mayor makes them official musicians by having them sign a contract with their footprints (Elizabeth signs with one of her pawprints which is smaller than Bruce's). The animals are also given the instruments they always wanted to play, including the guitar that Elizabeth desires.

The quartet plays their instruments to celebrate. In the end, the animals perform onstage sing "The Animal Quartet Theme Song" at the first concert that Bremen ever had in years with Miles dressed in a tuxedo while playing his piano, Elizabeth dressed as a cowgirl while playing her guitar, Bruce dressed as a rock 'n' roll player while playing his drums, and Stevenson dressed as a jazz player while playing his saxophone. After the concert, Elizabeth and her friends bow to the audience.

Video Games[]

Elizabeth appears in the Animal Quartet video game as one of the playable characters. She has the abilities to scratch, meow, climb, long-jump, and play the guitar. She has to collect power cards to obtain her abilities. She can also wear her cowgirl hat, vest, belt, spurs, and guitar when the player buys them from the Bremen giftshop. She eats fish to restore her health.

Trivia[]

  • Elizabeth is a little similar to Gwendolyn from the Fearless Four and Marnie from Spy Cat/Marnie's World.
  • Although she can talk to the other humans, she only meows to the rich woman.
  • Because Elizabeth only likes mice as friends, she is sort of like Harry from the Cricket in Times Square.
  • In the video game, Elizabeth carries her guitar on her back (except when she's playing it).
