Dumbo II was the planned sequel to Dumbo that was directed by Robert C. Ramirez, director of the Dreamworks' film Joseph: King of Dreams. It was scheduled to be released in 2001 but was delayed for many years until production was cancelled by John Lasseter after he was named CEO of Walt Disney Animation Studios in early 2006. The trailer to the film can be found on the 2001 VHS and DVD release of the 60th Anniversary Edition of Dumbo.
Summary[]
Taking place specifically one day after the events of the first film, the story involved Dumbo, Timothy Q. Mouse and a host of other baby animals, each of whom represented a different stage of childhood, getting separated in New York City. While trying to find their way back, each character learned how to fix his or her own problems.
Plot[]
Our story begins moments after Dumbo became the star of the circus and reunites with his mother Mrs. Jumbo, they met with the president of the US at the White House. Later at the circus performance, Dumbo saved the whole elephant stables from the fire as the whole circus rejoiced including the Ringmaster.
After the circus performance, Penny, Godfry, Dot, Claude and Lolly, and Levi were just playing their game of ball tossing. Unfortunately for Dumbo, Penny wouldn’t give him a chance due to her jealousy.
Later that night, Timothy had a heart to heart talk about a lot of things happening from time to time and always smiles when things will get better in time. Just when Mrs. Jumbo was tucking Dumbo into bed, he felt left out about not being special when Mrs. Jumbo told him about his father not too long ago before he was delivered from Mr. Stork.
The very next morning, Dumbo became very passionate to Penny as he finished his big glass of milk halfway and shared his half with her in hopes to earn her trust to join her gang of friends. With that, Penny formed a meeting with Godfry, Dot, Claude and Lolly and Levi on his behalf. Later, Dumbo, Penny, Claude and Lolly, Dot, Godfry and Levi got loose from the nursery cart while Timothy had to keep an eye on them as the circus crew was still packing. Along the way, they started playing around Central Park unaware that one of the civilians called animal control, the meanest of them all was none other than Officer Joey Mcintosh.
Just while Dumbo and his new friends kept on having some fun, Timothy had to remind Dumbo about the circus train about to leave. Then suddenly, Casey Jr. took off without Dumbo, Timothy and the baby animals which had Mrs. Jumbo worried and heartsick. But as they got to the train station, they were too late. And what’s worse, Joey Mcintosh began his wild goose chase on Dumbo, Timothy and the baby animals as they ran for their lives.
By the time Dumbo, Timothy and the others reached the woods, they began to follow the direction to where Casey Jr. took off. Suddenly, there were thunder clouds that frightened as scattered as Dumbo and Timothy find Penny, Claude and Lolly, Dot, Godfry and Levi one by one. Dumbo even kept them dry from the rain after the shelter was built from branches.
Back at the train not too far from New York, Mrs. Jumbo along with the parent animals discovers Dumbo and the other baby animals were left behind as Casey Jr. stopped and turned back. With no time to lose, the Ringmaster organized a search party in hopes Dumbo and the baby animals are found and brought back to the safety of the circus.
Meanwhile, Dumbo and the others made it through the woods and returned to New York City as they set off to wait for Casey Jr. to get back as they hid in the zoo from Joey Mcintosh. Just as soon as he’s gone out of sight, Timothy had signaled Dumbo and the others that it’s safe to come out of hiding as they continue on their way back home with the circus.
While Dumbo and their friends searched all over the city for any food to eat, until they spotted a restaurant nearby. Just as Penny and the others could not get the leftover food from being tossed to the dump, Dumbo stopped her. Just as Dumbo planned a new strategy, he saw that Penny and her friends had great talents as they each used their skills to gather leftover food to satisfy their appetites. Soon after, they reached the candy and treat factory without knowing that Joey Mcintosh was following them.
Once inside the factory, Dumbo looks at candy canes and Godfry was enjoying some taffy while Levi was eating cookies, Claude and Lolly were eating gumdrops, Dot drinking soda and Penny some jelly beans. Suddenly as Timothy was about to warn Dumbo, Joey Mcintosh took him and put him into the back of his truck and got inside the factory to search for the baby animals. While inside the factory, Dumbo and the others hide as Joey McIntosh looks around. As they hid, Dumbo secretly gathered Claude and Lolly, Dot, Levi, Godfry and Penny one by one. Just as Penny welcomed Dumbo to her gang, they discovered Timothy captured as Dumbo left them to rescue him, leaving Penny and the others to think things over.
Elsewhere at Grand Central Station, Casey Jr. was waiting as Mrs. Jumbo set out to find Dumbo, leaving the whole circus crew on a search party for him and the baby animals. Back with Dumbo, he’s hoping to save Timothy and stop Joey McIntosh by sabotaging his truck. Just then, Penny, Claude and Lolly, Dot, Levi and Godfry came to help Dumbo save Timothy just in the nick of time. At last, they all split up in the carnival to escape from Joey McIntosh.
Once in the carnival, Dumbo and Timothy were hiding in the haunted house to hide from Joey McIntosh. Elsewhere, Penny sabotages his truck by putting it in reverse and sending it into the sea. Thus, they escaped the carnival through some rides and the fun house.
Just as Dumbo and his friends found themselves on a roller coaster while trying to escape from Joey McIntosh, the circus rescue party came to the rescue. Thrilled by Dumbo’s friends finding their true talents for the circus, Dumbo takes to the sky as Joey McIntosh falls off the roller coaster and down into the sea just as the police showed up and arrested him for animal abuse.
As soon as Dumbo and his friends were almost home, Casey Jr. arrives to see how Dumbo was a brave hero and he gives them a lift to Grand Central Station. And happily, Dumbo, Penny, Claude and Lolly, Dot, Levi and Godfry reunited with their parents and Mrs. Jumbo was really proud of him for keeping his friends together including Timothy and they all left New York.
Once arrived at New York City, Dumbo performed the magnificent flying act, while Penny became the gliding ostrich, Claude and Lolly became really great with acrobats and Dumbo’s help, Dot is now a natural at roller blading around the ring, Levi is great at hitting the volleyball without missing a goal, and Godfry became a natural doi5 high dive act all by himself. Finally, the film ends with everyone celebrating that Dumbo was truly a hero of the circus.
