Duke Dmitry and Duchess Sonya are minor characters from the animated film Hope. They are the rulers of the province of Vuleiy and Princess Nadya's parents.
Appearances[]
Dmitry is a tall and awkwardly thin man with a pale complexion, shoulder-length dark brown hair and brown eyes. He wears a green kaftan tunic with an amber cloth belt wrapped around his waist several times, reddish brown pants and boots, and a fur trimmed green hat.
Sonya is a heavyset woman with peachy skin, long chestnut hair and hazel eyes. She wears a beige shift under green robes with gold patterns on the shoulders and hem, and a gold headdress with a white cloth wrapped around her hair and chin. Sonya also wears a barrette decorated with yellow butterflies, which she later gives to Nadya.
Personality[]
Dmitry and Sonya are a happily married couple, as well as loving and supportive parents to Nadya. They display eternal patience with their daughter's timidness while still encouraging her to have confidence in herself. It would seem that Dmitry is more mild-mannered, while Sonya is more dominant and opinionated.

- The real world equivalent of Duke Dmitry's rank is the historical Knyaz, a nobleman who ruled over a feudal state in medieval Eastern Europe.
- The name Vuleiy is an anglicization of Вулей (Vuliej,) the Belarusian word for "beehive." This is a nod to Vuleiy being chiefly a beekeeping community.
