Duke is one of the major antagonists in the Disney's animated television series, The Red Volcano's Island.
He is voiced by Jim Cummings.
Personality[]
Duke is a very sneaky, sarcastic, and manipulative dingo who represents everything that Chief despises. His hatred for Chief is made out of pure jealousy and greed to take the power of the Magic Stone, and is willing to betray the Herd.
History[]
The Duke is first seen entering the jungle and nearing the castle gates. The greedy royal proves to be extremely excited, deeming Trash Island his most mysterious trade partner, and that he greatly looks forward to unlocking its secrets and exploiting its riches. However, he accidentally says this out loud to his two guards.
Duke throws the supplies into the quicksand, and he reveals his true love-sick colors to the cubs. He reveals that being stranded on the island would eventually allow him to steal the gold and obtain the alleged power of the Stone of Cold Fire to become a powerful being animal, also revealing that he stole the supplies from the helicopter before hand and hid it to ensure that Marina would never find away off the island. He is willing to do anything to rip Marina's heart; even if it means leaving her to die on the island forever (potentially leading to both of their deaths from the lack of resources). He then abandons the cubs to die in the quicksand and steals the fruit the cubs prepared for Karla. Later in the woods, he comforts Marina with some poisoned water and he attempts to toast her uncomfortably until the cubs (who escaped the quicksand earlier with the inflatable raft) while Ice Cub reveals the Duke's true nature. He tries to explain how helpful he's been for Marina until Dweeb shows up with the Duke's journal and reveals it's true contents (including pictures of them kissing and stealing gold). Marina finally realizes the Duke's true nature and gives him to cold shoulder. This enrages the Duke and he attempts to grab the baby penguins, but they flee with Marina (Ice Cub throwing one last coconut at him out of spite). The Duke peruses the four and nearly gets Ice Cub. But he escapes the Duke's grasp by throwing a starfish at his eyes, stunning him briefly and allowing Marina and the cubs to escape the island on the raft and leaving Duke behind on the island to die.
