Dana Terrace is an American animator, writer, storyboard artist, director, producer, and voice actress, who, for Disney, is best known for her work on Gravity Falls and the creator of The Owl House.

Backgrounds[]

Terrace graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York during the spring of 2013 and subsequently moved to Los Angeles, California after getting hired as a storyboard revisionist for Gravity Falls. After finishing work on the show, Terrace became a director of the first season of the rebooted DuckTales series and as a storyboard artist for the Tangled: The Series episode "Challenge of the Brave".^[1]

Aside from executive-producing The Owl House, Terrace also voiced the character Tiny Nose.^[2] She also provided the vocal effects for King's "squeak of rage" in The Owl House episode "Escape of the Palisman", although she was uncredited.^[3]

In addition to this, she has also provided in-house animation for both Gravity Falls and DuckTales. For Gravity Falls, she animated the closing sequence in "Not What He Seems" and Bill Cipher's death in "Weirdmageddon Part 4: Somewhere in the Woods". For DuckTales, she was an additional animator in the episode "Woo-oo!".

Terrace received a "special thanks" credit in the Amphibia episode "The Hardest Thing".

After the production of The Owl House ended, Terrace left Disney after years of collaboration.

A background character in the Gravity Falls episode "The Stanchurian Candidate" is based off of her and two other members of staff.
The Tiny Nose character is based on Dana's self caricature.
- The character also bears some similarities to The Little Man (also known as Big Nose) from The Pink Panther cartoons.
She is the sixth woman to create a series for Disney Television Animation after Sue Rose (Pepper Ann), Chris Nee (Doc McStuffins), Daron Nefcy (Star vs. the Forces of Evil), Krista Tucker (Fancy Nancy), and Nicole Dubuc (The Rocketeer).
On September 25, 2018, Terrace came out as bisexual.^[4] On August 8, 2020, Terrace said that featuring LGBT characters in The Owl House helped her to come out to her friends and family in 2017, a year before coming out publicly.^[5]
Amity's palisman, Ghost, is based on Dana's real-life cat.
In The Owl House episode "Reaching Out", Luz's father passing away when she was little is a parallel of Dana's father, Thomas Terrace, who died in a car crash when she was eleven.
