Maurice[]

Maurice is Belle's father. Belle willingly listens to, takes advice from, and admires her father Maurice since, throughout most of her life, he's the only person who has believed in her unconditionally. Belle deeply loves her father and loves seeing him making inventions, believing Maurice will one day become a world famous inventor. When Maurice did not return home from presenting his latest invention at a fair, Belle set off riding on her horse, Philippe to find him. Once Belle found Maurice in the Beast's castle, Belle willingly offered to take her father's place as the Beast's prisoner, despite Maurice pleading not to.
After Belle took Maurice's place as the Beast's prisoner, she started to miss her father and cried when she wasn't given a chance to say good-bye to her father. Although Belle eventually had come to terms with living in the castle and bonded with the Beast and his servants, she still missed her father. When Belle saw her father through the Enchanted Mirror, she became horrified to see he was out in the woods, sick and dying. After being released by the Beast, Belle immediately rushed off to find her father and managed to rescue him, bringing him back home where Belle nursed Maurice back to health. The two were happily embraced each other until their reunion was cut short upon the arrival of Monsieur D'Arque and an angry mob.
Desperate to not have her father not taken away from her again as he's being sent to the mental asylum, Belle proves her father's sanity and innocence by showing the Beast's existence through the enchanted mirror. However, after Gaston locked Belle and Maurice in their cellar, as he plans to kill the Beast, Belle is comforted by Maurice when she blames herself for putting the Beast in danger. However, after being rescued by Chip Potts, Belle and Maurice immediately rush off to the castle together to stop Gaston from slaying the Beast.
After Gaston's defeat and the Enchantress's spell is broken, Maurice shedded tears of joy while watching Belle dance with Prince Adam's (the Beast's human form), happy to see that his daughter had found love.

Belle and Prince Adam/Beast
When Belle first met the Beast, she was terrified of the way he looked in the light. She made a deal with him in which she would take her father's place as a prisoner. At first, she didn't want to have anything to do with him. But when the Beast rescued her from a pack of wolves, she chooses to help the Beast - who has collapsed from exhaustion and his wounds - back to the castle over running away and leaving him in the woods to suffer. She tends to the Beast's wounds, then thanks him for saving her life. She also considers the opinions and directions of the Beast, because, like Maurice, he is able to treat her as an equal (the Beast eventually learned how throughout the course of the film). Belle expressed her comfort and love for the Beast during their ballroom waltz.

Lumiere[]
Belle and Lumiere.
When Lumiere first saw and met Belle, he knew that she is the girl who has come to break the spell. Lumiere decides to give Belle a warm welcome by serving her dinner and singing "Be Our Guest". Lumiere, along with Cogsworth, then willingly gave Belle a tour of the castle. However, when Belle decided to leave the castle due being frightened away by the Beast for entering the West Wing, Lumiere showed concern for her safety, but Belle returned back after the Beast rescued her from a pack of wolves.
When the Beast decided to give Belle a gift in gratitude for her kindness, it was Lumiere's idea for the Beast to give Belle his library as Lumiere knew Belle loved books. As Belle and the Beast's relationship started to improve, Lumiere became impressed that Belle and the Beast managed to work things out on their own. After that, Lumiere continued to help Belle fall in love with the Beast. However, when the Beast set Belle free so she can help her father, Lumiere became depressed, thinking with Belle gone, there would be no chance to break the spell and become human again.
However, Belle returned back to save the Beast from Gaston. She confessed her love for the Beast, reviving him and turning him and the servants, Lumiere included, back into their humans forms. As Belle and Prince Adam shared a waltz, Lumiere happily watched them as he had great faith in Belle for breaking the spell.
Cogsworth[]

When Cogsworth first saw Belle, he helped her locate her father who was imprisoned in a tower. After Belle agreed to stay at the castle and refused to join the Beast for dinner, Cogsworth tried to get her join the master for dinner, but she still refused. Cogsworth had to admit that Belle was being stubborn, but when Belle came out of her room for something to eat, Cogsworth wasn't willing to give her a meal, due to the fear of being punished by the master, but finally relented at Lumiere's urging.
After the meal, Belle asked for a tour of the castle which Cogsworth was willingly to do so after he proudly admitted to her that he everything about the castle when she asked him. When Belle decided to leave the castle due to being frightened away by the Beast for entering the West Wing, Cogsworth showed concern for her safety and begged her not to leave, only to fail until Belle returned back after the Beast rescued her from a pack of wolves.
As Belle's relationship with the the master improved and continued to grow, Cogsworth continued to help them fall in love and became optimistic that their love would break the spell. However, when the master set Belle free so she could aid her sick father, Cogsworth was the first to hear of Belle's departure and was so shocked that he became depressed, thinking that with Belle gone, there would be no chance to break the spell.
However, Belle returned and managed to confess her love for the Beast, thus breaking the spell and turning all of the castle's inhabitants, Cogsworth included, back into their human forms. Later, as Belle and Prince Adam shared a waltz, Cogsworth watched them danced together.
Mrs. Potts[]

Belle first meets Mrs. Potts when she comes into her room to serve her some tea after Belle allowed herself take her father's place as a prisoner. Mrs. Potts comforted a depressed Belle, reassuring her that things will get better in the mean time. Mrs. Potts was also very patient with Belle in the process of getting her and the Beast to fall in love. When Belle came out of her room for something to eat, Mrs. Potts immediately ordered the kitchen to prepare Belle a meal, despite being ordered by the Beast not to, as Mrs. Potts did not want Belle to go hungry, showing a motherly side towards the girl.
When Belle and the Beast's relationship improved and started to grow, Mrs. Potts helped them fall in love and sang a romantic song during their ballroom waltz. However, when the Beast set Belle free so she could aid her sick father, Mrs. Potts was shocked and heartbroken while sadly confirming that the Beast has finally learned to love and with Belle gone, there would be no chance to break the spell.
Belle eventually managed to return back to the castle and confess her love for the Beast, thus breaking the spell and turning all of the castle's inhabitants, Mrs. Potts included, back into their human forms. As Belle and Prince Adam shared another waltz, Mrs. Potts cheerfully watched them as she assured her son that Belle and Prince Adam will now live happily ever after.
Chip Potts[]

When Chip first saw Belle arrive at the castle, Chip immediately liked her and complimented on how beautiful she was. When Chip finally met Belle to serve her some tea, he offered to show her trick by blowing bubbles until he was reprimanded by his mother. Chip showed remorse for Belle when she expressed her sadness in losing both her father, her dreams, and freedom, revealing Chip does care for her.
When Belle's relationship with the Beast improved and started to blossom, Chip helped the two and supported them in falling in love. Chip even watched Belle and the Beast share a waltz together and stayed up late to see them confess their love. However, when the Beast set Belle free so she can aid her sick father, Chip was heartbroken to hear Belle leaving that he, unbeknown to anyone, decided to follow Belle. When he was discovered to have stowed away, Chip asked why she had to leave and if she didn't like everyone back at the castle. Belle kindly reassured him that she did, but her talk with Chip was cut short due to the arrival of Monsieur D'Arque.
After Gaston had trapped Belle and her father in their home's basement to prevent them from warning the Beast about the mob to kill him, Chip sought to free them and successfully did so by using Maurice's machine. Once they returned to the castle, Belle confessed her love for the Beast, reviving him and breaking the spell by turning the castle's inhabitants, Chip included, back to their human forms. As Belle and Prince Adam shared another waltz, Chip who was gladly watching them, asked his mother if the two would live happily ever after now which his mother confirmed so.
Enemies[]
Gaston[]
Belle and Gaston.
Gaston is Belle's greatest enemy. He wants to marry her by any means necessary. However, Belle strongly disliked Gaston for his snobbish, arrogant, and narcissistic personality and was the only girl in the village to not be infatuated with Gaston. But Gaston was determined to win Belle over and have her be "his" as she was the most beautiful girl. When Gaston asked Belle for her hand in marriage, Belle rejected his proposal and told him she "didn't deserve him" before causing him to fall into a mud puddle. After a humiliated Gaston left, Belle expressed her disgust at the idea of being Gaston's wife as she sang a song.
Despite Belle's rejection, Gaston remained determined to have Belle as his wife by any means necessary. When Belle's father Maurice was dismissed by saying Belle was held as a prisoner to the Beast, Gaston decided to blackmail Belle into marrying him by having Maurice taken to the town's asylum for his "crazy claims." Once Gaston's plan was put in motion, Belle was horrified and disgusted when Gaston proposed to her in exchange for freeing her father that she refused again. Belle managed to stop Gaston's plan by proving the Beast's existence with the help of the magic mirror. However, when Belle tried to explain the Beast's gentle nature, Gaston immediately became aware of Belle's romantic feelings for the Beast and mocked her for being in love with a monster. Angry at this insult, Belle retorts that Gaston is the real monster which causes him to snap and form an angry mob to help him kill the Beast not before locking Belle and her father in their home's cellar to prevent them from warning the Beast.
Once Belle escaped with the help of Chip Potts (who stowed away in Belle's satchel), Belle immediately rushes back to the Beast's Castle to stop Gaston from killing the Beast. When Belle arrived at the castle and saw Gaston about to kill a depressed Beast, she begged Gaston to stop before the Beast started to fight back (due to regaining the will to live upon seeing Belle return). After the Beast spares Gaston, Belle reunited with the Beast, but Gaston stabbed him in the back in a last attempt to kill the Beast and have Belle for himself. However, Gaston's last attempt ended up in vain when he suddenly fell to his death and the Beast was revived when Belle confessed her love to the Beast.
LeFou[]
LeFou is one of Belle's enemies. He would often tease her father, Maurice by calling him a crazy ole loon. LeFou would aid Gaston in his attempts to get Belle to marry him and didn't like it when Belle rejected Gaston (despite LeFou trying to tell Gaston earlier that Belle wasn't his type). When Gaston decided to blackmail Belle by threatening to send her father to the asylum if she doesn't marry him, LeFou rounded up an angry mob against Belle and Maurice to enact Gaston's plan. However, when the plan failed, LeFou gave an evil stare to Belle and Maurice as they were locked in their home's basement by Gaston to prevent them from warning the Beast about Gaston's plan to kill him.
